This is the story of how my father Doug McIntyre lost his life to the Covid-19 hospital protocol. Dad was a healthy 76-year-old man with diabetes type II. He had been married to his loving wife for 56 years. With three beautiful daughters and 7 grandchildren. Dad was active in his church and was a child of God. My family and want to get justice for his wrongful death.
On July 14th 2020 my dad was having shortness of breath, and feeling extremely fatigued. Both he and my mother had not been feeling well for over a week and decided to go get checked for Covid. They went to Ascension medical clinic in Hendersonville, TN where they tested positive. Dad was a little worse off than my mother.
His oxygen levels were not regulating like they should and staying in the 80’s. With that being said the Doctor told my dad to get to Sumner Regional Medical Center right away. Mom drove my dad to the hospital and dropped him off. Little did she know that would be the last time she would ever see her husband again.
Dad was seen by Doctor John Pinkston in the ER department and evaluated. Blood pressure was a little low, which was normal for him, temperature was 98.8, respirations 22, and o2 level on room air were 88%, lab work was ok. A PCR Covid test was administered along with a chest x-ray. Dad had what they call Covid Phenomena.
I want to add this note, while in the ER dad’s o2 levels came up to 92% on room air. Seeing how sick my dad was Dr. Pinkston admitted him to the isolation unit for observation and antibiotics. Of course my family and I were a nervous wreck not being able to be there with him. Dad’s oxygen levels tanked and was put on a nasal canula and then moved up to a full facial mask on 6 liters while in the isolation unit. A little later he was moved to the isolation ICU.
July 15th dad was administered the drug Remdesivir, of course with his consent. In my experience of working at a hospital for 10 years as a CAN people who have low oxygen levels can be confused and in distress and not able to make sound decisions for themselves. Hypoxemia, the term for low oxygen levels, symptoms are: shortness of breath, headache, coughing and CONFUSION.
Instead of the doctors or nurses contacting my mother for consent to administer Remdesivir. They said here sign this it will help you. Dad quickly declined, lab work came back abnormal while on this so-called miracle drug. He was put on a bipap at night to see if it helped with his o2 levels. From then on out he stayed on the bipap.
July 19th Lasix was started… Lasix is used to treat fluid retention for people with heart failure, liver failure and kidney failure. With dad declining so fast my family along with friends and church family met on the roof top of Sumner Regional Medical Center crying out to God to heal our daddy, husband, grandfather, friend etc.
July 28th my mom and I got the call we did not want to hear from his nurse, dad was going to be put on the ventilator. The nurse facetimed my mother and I and we got to tell him that we loved him and he responded back, “I love you too.” That vision is still imbedded in my head and will never go away. Dad coded three times that morning. Mom was called and given probably what I would say is the toughest decision to make.
Mom decided that three times was enough and knew God was ready for him. God did answer our prayers about healing dad, it just was not what we wanted… Dad entered Jesus’ arms July 29th 2020 at 9:42am.
Remdesivir caused dad’s kidneys to begin shutting down. Remdesivir caused my dad to go septic and then to be put on the ventilator. Not only were we not able to advocate for my dad but we were not able to be there with him, or even hold his hand as he entered Heaven’s Gate.
I know nothing can bring him back and I understand that it was his chosen time. BUT, something has to be done to stop this deadly protocol.
